The deep sound of heat

District heating is gaining increasing importance in regional energy supply.
Invisibly, milelong steel tubes transport regenerative heat into the houses in towns and villages.
The Tubophon artistically symbolizes the potential of these huge subterranean heat networks. This unique instrument was built by the engineering firm Kess in cooperation with the internationally renowned percussionist Professor Peter Sadlo, who had already performed with a prototype in Pullach in 2006. The pieces of music especially composed for the instrument make you hear and feel the archaic energies of the elementary forces. Sounds from another world – the world  of subterranean heat.

Tubophon: Consisting of the words tubo = tube, pipe (Latin – tubus) and phon = loud, sound (Greek – phonos)
